Georgi Valentinov Georgiev graduated Sofia University Faculty of Law in 2010. In 2011 - 2012 he obtained master degree in International Business Law in one of the top world universities – King’s College London. He specialized in the area of law of capital markets (Securitization and Derivatives, Syndicated loans, international bonds and Project Finance) and European and Comparative Company Law. He took part in courses on Contract Law and English Legal Methods at the University of Cambridge, English Company Law and Corporate governance at the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as training programs in arbitration and ADR at the Court of Arbitration with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Before he joined the firm, Georgi did traineeship at Banking Supervision Department of the Bulgarian National Bank, at the Legal Department of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. He participated at the joint internship programme between Sofia District Court and the Fulbright Commission in Bulgaria. In 2012 Georgi was appointed as a country researcher for Bulgaria and member of the research team in project of the London School of Economics and Political Science, funded by the European Commission for survey on the legislation and case-law of the member states regarding corporate governance. Since 2013 until 2016 he was part – time assistant professor at the Law School in the University of National and World Economy in Sofia and since 2016 he is full – time assistant professor in Commercial law and Civil law at the School of Law of Sofia University.
His main areas of expertise are company law, insolvency, litigation, both domestic and international arbitration proceedings, corporate mergers and acquisitions, license procedures before the Commission for Financial Supervision and the Bulgarian National Bank. He has advised clients in negotiations and drafting of loan agreements with EBRD with total value of EUR 15 mln., with the European Investment Bank, as well as foreign investors in Bulgaria such as “MELROSE RESOURCES” LTD., UPS Plc., „GRAPES AND BARLEY“ LLC. (USA) etc. He was involved in transactions such as debt restructuring, syndicated loans, bank financing etc. for over 50 mln. euro. Georgi represented also on particular projects domestic companies such as the pharmaceutical company “ROMPHARM COMPANY” LTD. which is the largest owner of agricultural land in Bulgaria, “WINSLOW GROUP” JSC., state institutions and municipalities such as Municipality of Sofia and “URBAN MOBILITY CENTER” JSC.
