Stoimen Chakalov, has a master’s degree in Law from the University of National and World Economy, as well as a master’s degree in European Union Law from the international program of the Faculty of Law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, jointly with the University of Nancy, France. In addition, he also holds a diploma of higher education in International Relations from the University of National and World Economy.

After acquiring legal capacity in 2009, he did an internship at Georgiev, Todorov & Co Law Offices. During this period he worked actively with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its Commercial Law Reform Project. He was awarded a special prize for his contribution to the development of the introduction of private enforcement in Bulgaria and the Reform in the field of commercial registration. He was nominated and selected as a participant in the US Department of State’s program for training young leaders, and during the training he gained in-depth knowledge of the federal electoral system.

He is a co-author of a study by the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) on the implementation of legislation of the European Union in Bulgaria and is a participant in working groups at the Parliamentary Committee on Anti-Corruption of the 40th National Assembly in relation to Amendments of the Access to Public Information Act and Act on Prevention and Findings of Conflict of Interests. Editor and author of legal publications in the magazine “Legal World”, he was also invited as a commentator in electronic media on topics, including the establishment and functioning of the EU Fiscal Union, the EU constitutional reform and ratification of the TFEU.

Stoimen Chakalov specializes in the fields of financial, banking, commercial and real law. As part of the team of other law firms, he has experience in advising banking and non-banking financial institutions (leasing and mortgage lending companies, insurance intermediaries, etc.). He also assists clients such as PIRAEUS BANK BULGARIA AD, PIRAEUS LEASING BULGARIA AD, etc., for compliance with regulatory requirements and in relation to supervision by the Bulgarian National Bank, collection of receivables, asset transactions, enforcement of Bulgarian court rulings in EU Member States, researching real estate collaterals, individual enforcement and commercial insolvency.

In 2015 he became part of the team of lawyers and financial advisers, who conducted a due diligence of the assets of Corporate Commercial Bank (in bankruptcy).

He has extensive court experience on civil and commercial cases, as well as on proceedings for insolvency claims. In 2018, it was included in the List of Persons Who May Be Appointed as Trustees in Insolvency Proceedings by the Commercial Code, approved by the Minister of Justice. He is currently a trustee in bankruptcy of several companies in insolvency proceedings. Prior to joining the team of Georgiev, Todorov & Co. in February 2022, he also specialized in court proceedings in relation to the Tax-Insurance Procedure Code, Administrative Procedure Code and the Act on Counteracting Corruption and on Seizure of Illegally Acquired Property.

As a part of the team of the law firm, Stoimen Chakalov specializes in the fields of banking and finance, contract and commercial law.

He is a member of the Sofia Bar Association since 2011.
