In 2012 Yasen Nikolov graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with honors. Before joining the team of Georgiev, Todorov & Co. Law Offices, he had nearly ten years of experience as a lawyer in other law firms, as well as an independent lawyer.

In 2018, he defended a Ph.D. educational and scientific degree in Commercial Law at the Department of Civil Law Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with a topic of his dissertation work “The Public Offering of Securities”.

For several years, as a Ph.D. student and as a part-time assistant professor, he led seminars at the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in the disciplines “Commercial Law” and “Civil Law – General Part”.

At the beginning of his practice, Yasen Nikolov worked for more than four years in a law firm, where he was involved in a wide range of domestic and international mandates in the field of capital markets, company law, general and bank insolvency and in general in the field of commercial law. His work included participation in the preparation of prospectuses for public offerings of securities, consulting on bond issues, establishment of public companies, etc. While working on a wide range of domestic and international projects during this period, Yasen achieved recognition in the Legal 500 directory as a next-generation lawyer.

In his capacity as an independent lawyer and as a counsel of one of the biggest Bulgarian banks, for years Yasen has provided consultancy on projects and legal representation on cases in the field of payment services and payment systems, IP law, commercial law, as well as administrative and administrative-criminal law and procedure.

In 2021, Yasen was part of the team which acted as a lead counsel of the purchaser on one of the biggest transactions in the Republic of Bulgaria in the amount of EUR 1.015 million for the acquisition of 100 % of the shares of one of the major Bulgarian banks and its subsidiaries.

In Georgiev, Todorov & Co., he mainly focuses on the fields of civil and administrative procedure, administrative law, competition law, as well as commercial and contract law.

Since 2013, he is a member of the Sofia Bar Association.

Yasen Nikolov is the author of the book “Hardship and Force Majeure”, “Ciela” publishing, 2022, as well as of a number of scientific publications and reports in the field of civil and commercial law:

In 2011, during his studies, Yasen won an award from the Rector of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Prof. Dr. Ivan Ilchev for achievements in the scientific research, on the recommendation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Christian Takov, as well as an award for outstanding performance, active group and public activity in memory of Prof. Dr. Vitali Tadjer, on the recommendation of Prof. Dr. Ivan Ruschev and with the assistance of the Dean’s governing body of the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Yasen also won first places at the organized by the Civil Law Circle at the Law Faculty of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” National Competition in Solving Cases in the Field of Civil and Commercial Law and National competition for students’ scientific papers with a report on the “The Settlement Agreement – Substantive, Procedural and Comparative Law Aspects”.
